Example Custom Program for a High School
This client wanted a program to improve educator awareness and move them to action. Our recommendation was for a year-long program combining half-day virtual workshops and monthly modules with discussions led by coached small-group leaders.
Approximate Time |
Intervention |
Before School Year Starts |
1/2 day (3 to 4 hour) virtual workshopEach workshop will build on the other. In the first in the series, we will examine stereotypes and implicit bias and the unintentional impact on students. |
~1 time per month over the course of the school year, for a total of 8 times |
Coaching for small-group leadersI will meet with the small-group leaders monthly to prep them for the monthly discussions. I will also provide time for shared reflections and community building. It is best if these individuals are volunteers who are ready for the challenge of facilitating conversations on educational equity. They don’t need to be experts, but they need to be up for the task. |
~1 time per month over the course of the school year, for a total of 8 times |
Staff complete an asynchronous learning unit to prepare for group discussionThe asynchronous activities will take anywhere from 15-30 minutes, or more depending on the level of reflection. The activities vary from completing an exercise or watching a video. Sample modules on the following page. |

Small-group leaders facilitate discussion on monthly topicsDetailed facilitators guides will be provided based on the asynchronous learning unit. The goal of the monthly discussion modules is to build a shared vocabulary, deepen personal reflections, practice talking about educational equity, establish accountability, coach one another in applying strategies, and support growth in becoming inclusive educators. |
Mid to Late First Semester |
