The facilitator adroitly dealt with a difficult situation at the very end of our training session. Meagan calmly and effectively addressed a chasm that had developed among some of the trainees and utilized the situation to reiterate that a day-long session could not solve all inequities.

[The workshop] was great. I liked Meagan's example of the train and unintentional micromessaging and how cultural, gender and bias may create mixed messages that may or may not upset the balance of one's self-efficacy. I also liked the request for thoughtful interaction.

Meagan is amazing! I really identified with her experiences and learned a lot about how to create a welcoming environment for my students. I was so thrilled with her presentation I told my daughter to come by the next day. Meagan did us the wonderful honor of speaking to my daughter, who is a freshman in college, and considering a non-traditional career. Meagan's professionalism and competence was an inspiration to my child. I love that Meagan's motivation and excitement was able to transfer to me and my child in such a positive and helpful way. I think Meagan is exactly where she needs to be, and has found a home in her career.

Meagan created a very safe space for other teachers to be honest and self reflect (both + and -). I felt safe to be vulnerable and learn.

The facilitators were real. I felt like I could sit and talk with them without really knowing them. Being comfortable with the speakers made the session enjoyable. This session made me do some soul searching which in turn will make me a better instructor.

Meagan’s career centers on creating opportunities to recruit and advance underserved individuals in engineering & computer science. She brought experience in leading professional development on access, equity, & inclusion as the chair of CDEI's Professional Development (PD) committee. She has lead this team for multiple years now. As part of that work, she has helped organize the new slate of DEI education sessions at the ASEE Annual Conference in 2019 & 2020, 2021, and 2022. Working collaboratively with her team the PD committee launched the Virtual Workshop series and the Cultivating Inclusive Communities pilot program. This year, she also took on facilitation of the ASEE CDEI strategic planning process with support from Tasha and Liz, but has largely lead all the sessions and the process; this has been a large lift outside of her normal PD Committee responsibilities.

Meagan is committed to empowering and mentoring upcoming scholars in engineering education to be leaders. As PD chair, she created teams responsible for different aspects of the work. All the team leaders are/were early scholars from systematically marginalized groups, promoting networks among them. We received amazing feedback from them about Meagan. In particular, they talked about how she provided one-on-one mentoring, opportunities to EngEd graduate students, and encouraged them to self-advocate and find their voices. Her commitment to equity and inclusion was mentioned multiple times. She was described as both creating structures and empowering others to support inclusion.
